The Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra Celebrated with Acclaimed Summer Night Concerts at the Classionata Solothurn Festival in Switzerland

On 19 and 21 June 2026, the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra, conducted by Andreas Spörri, presented an enchanting summer programme at the Classionata Festival, which he founded, together with vocal soloists Claudia Goebl (soprano) and Iurie Ciobanu (tenor). The programme ranged from Franz von Suppé’s overture Morning, Noon and Night in Vienna and Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Smetana’s famous symphonic poem The Moldau, Strauss’s charming Watch Duet and the passionate tenor showpiece Granada. Bernstein added a touch of Broadway flair, while dances by Ponchielli and works by Offenbach, Sienczynski and Schönherr brought Viennese melodies and stories vividly to life. The finale reached an exhilarating crescendo, first on stage and then throughout the concert hall, as the audience responded with standing ovations and enthusiastic cheers.
