From 2002 to 2021 he was the second chief conductor of the orchestra after the founder Prof. Wolfgang Jelinek. He conducted the orchestra at numerous balls, undertook concert tours in several continents and recorded a large number of sound carriers. The ball audience in the Vienna City Hall thanked him shortly before the ball ended at 4 a.m. with long-lasting applause!

The Board of the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra thanks Prof. Uwe Theimer for his great and valuable work in the past years and wishes all the best for the future!

]]> Erfolgreiche Ball Saison 2023 https://opernballorchester.com/en/erfolgreiche-ball-saison-2023/ Fri, 03 Mar 2023 12:31:06 +0000 https://opernballorchester.com/?p=5090 On January 21, the Ball Royale of the City of Baden entitled "Vive La France" marked the beginning of an extremely successful ball season for the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra. At the midnight interlude, the orchestra played immortal chansons from the world of the bohemians in arrangements by Pavel Singer. 

A special ball event was the Vienna Coffee Ball on February 3 at the Vienna Hofburg. The highlight of the opening was the ballet performance by the Vienna State Ballet in a choreography by Lukas Gaudernak and costumes by Christof Cremer. With brass reinforcement by the Bernd Fröhlich Orchestra, the "Bacchanale" from Samson and Dalila by Camille Saint-Saëns became a fantastic feast for the eyes and ears!

The Vienna Opera Ball took place for the first time under the new management team on February 16. The ORF and other television stations from all over the world presented our new chief conductor Laszlo Gyüker and showed in numerous shots our brilliant Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra performing with a lot of feeling. The dance-loving audience gave us a full parquet until shortly after 5.00 am.

]]> Verleihung des Berufstitel „Professor“ an Herbert Fischerauer https://opernballorchester.com/en/verleihung-des-berufstitel-professor-an-herbert-fischerauer/ Mon, 12 Dec 2022 18:22:19 +0000 https://opernballorchester.com/?p=4941 The Managing Director of the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra was awarded the professional title of Professor by Federal President Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen in a resolution dated October 6, 2022. The certification was made by the Federal Minister for Art and Culture, Werner Kogler. In the course of a festive event on December 6, 2022 in the Lower Austrian Landhaus, the Governor of Lower Austria Johanna Mikl-Leitner presented the Decree of Intimation to Herbert Fischerauer.

During a photo shoot, especially when it's photos for the relaunch of a website, one inevitably thinks of the experiences we will have together one day. Even though only a fraction of the orchestra was present, one thing is already clear: we can look forward to many beautiful moments together, captured in great numbers and with just as much fun as by FRB Media.

Since the founding of the Concert Association Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra in 2004, Prof. Uwe Theimer has presided over the association as artistic director and managing director. His outstanding work, vision and energy have left a lasting mark on the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra and created an association that he finally placed in the trusting hands of a next generation at the beginning of 2022.

On 1 January 2022, Prof. Uwe Theimer resigned from his functions in the association and has since supported the orchestra as a guest conductor and highly valued member.

He was followed by Univ.-Doz. Laszlo Gyüker as artistic director and Herbert Fischerauer as managing director of the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra. Together with the two arrangers Pavel Singer and Thomas Trsek as well as the concertmaster Anne Harvey-Nagl, the previous work of the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra will be continued and advanced.

The musical quality, the mutual appreciation and the joint progress are unchanged, as is the heart of the association, chairwoman and co-founder Gerlinde Jelinek. With a new façade and the wind of change, the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra presents itself anew and looks proudly into the past and the future.
